The Dirty Dozen

movie

The Dirty Dozen is a classic, and there are quite a few reasons for it. The cast is amazing, these guys can really act. The story is about twelve convicted soldiers — serving 30 years or on death row — getting a chance to get out of their punishment if they accept the terms of a highly secret, and by many questioned, mission. They are going to drop by parachute into occupied France and eliminate as many German officers as they possible can. If anyone screws up they are all going back to jail or getting hanged.

Many of the things in this movie are unrealistic, but it’s still great fun. I personally love the war games exercise scenes, brilliant acting! Even though there are quite a few comic moment there are also some very serious scenes such as killing innocent women. As so many other war movies for this time period there’s an anti-establishment message and here we have convicted murderers and sociopaths as the anti-heroes instead of heroic soldiers.
