A rather odd movie, with much propaganda in it (nothing bad about that). A German U-boat crew is stranded in northern Canada, their only chance of survival is to escape to the still neutral USA. On the way there they meet a lot of stereotypical Canadians. You get a great look into the Canadian lifestyle, although some of the people they meet are rather extreme or unusual, and it’s an enjoyable movie. The ending is genius.

The production team wanted to scare the American people enough for them to join the war. I haven’t read anything about how that worked out, if it even created a debate in the states.
